Sydney McSorley

LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience providing individual and family therapy to children, teens, and adults. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions, offering both in-person and telehealth sessions.

My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support insight, skill-building, and meaningful change. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and encouraged to engage in thoughtful self-reflection and growth.

A unique area of focus in my work is the intersection of competitive sports and mental health. Having grown up immersed in gymnastics and later competing at the collegiate level, I understand firsthand the pressures athletes face performance anxiety, identity concerns, burnout, and balancing sport with life beyond competition. This background allows me to support athletes and high-performing individuals with empathy, clarity, and practical tools.

My passion for this work was shaped early on when I sought support from a social worker during my own athletic career. That experience not only helped me navigate performance-related stress but also inspired me to pursue a career in social work. I went on to earn both my Bachelor of Social Work (Magna Cum Laude) and Master of Social Work from Ball State University.

I currently provide therapy to adolescents and adults, typically ages 12–60. I am dedicated to ongoing learning and regularly participate in continuing education and professional consultation, including involvement with the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS), where I engage in monthly clinical discussions focused on athlete mental health.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I value honesty, adaptability, and accountability within the therapeutic relationship. Whether you are an athlete, a teen navigating transitions, or an adult seeking greater balance and well-being, I look forward to walking alongside you in your healing journey.
