Deb Sternke, She/Her, LMHCA
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
Hi there!
You may find yourself feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to move forward. You're not alone.
My passion for this work comes from my own personal journey. I understand the vulnerability and courage it takes to show up and do the work of healing and I believe that no matter what you have gone through, healing is possible.
My aim is to create a safe, therapeutic space where you can be seen as a whole person. Through compassionate curiosity, we look together at the patterns, stories, and places where you've felt alone. When we acknowledge and understand what we've been through, we can get unstuck from patterns that no longer serve us, growing in our resilience and deepening our sense of identity and agency.
This is relational work, a journey of becoming, taken together. You are the expert in your own life; I'm a fellow explorer alongside you, asking deeper questions and offering perspective to help illuminate where you are and where you might go. By cultivating a consistent, empathetic presence, we'll look inward at your feelings and thoughts, explore your past and present experiences, and consider how outward social, cultural, and systemic forces may have shaped where you find yourself today.
Together, we'll discover what works best for you moving from understanding to integration to healing. My hope is for you to experience deep healing and long-lasting change. Because the therapeutic alliance is one of the most important factors in that change, I work hard to cultivate a warm, safe, and welcoming environment from our very first conversation.
I welcome all diversity and am committed to staying mindful of my own biases as I continue learning and growing.
My approach draws on trauma-focused/trauma-informed, attachment-based, emotion-focused, IFS-informed, mindfulness-based, narrative, person-centered, psychodynamic, and somatic modalities, and I am trained in Brainspotting (Phase 1). Wherever you're starting from, my work is tailored to meet you there.
